The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner and you may be starting to think about your Christmas décor options, especially if this is the first Christmas in your new home or you fancy switching it up this year. Whether your interior style is modern and minimalistic or bold and bright, here’s a guide to infusing holiday cheer into any aesthetic.

Modern Minimalist

For those who love clean lines, muted tones and opt for a more neutral palette throughout their home the Scandinavian modern Christmas décor is the way to go. In terms of colour schemes whites, silvers or even a pop of gold or champagne would suit your aesthetic best.

For your tree decorations, it’s best to build a base with baubles to match your colour palette. You can then purchase individual tree decorations to add pops of interest to your tree. Create a cosy and inviting atmosphere with warm white fairy lights, the perfect addition to a tree to add a touch of Christmas magic.

A key part in achieving the Scandi-look is utilising natural materials such as wood. Wooden beads are a great addition draped around the tree or across a TV unit to help create the Nordic look.

You could also try your hand at DIY-ing decorations such as pinecones tied with ribbon or cinnamon sticks wrapped round with jute string which would also add a festive spice scent to the room.

When it comes to this Christmas décor style, it’s best to remember that less is more. Let a few items shine and scale back to encapsulate the Scandi-Christmas feel.

Bold Maximalist

If this is your home décor style, then Christmas is the perfect opportunity to have some fun with colour. There’s the option of sticking with a colour palette to achieve this look or mix and match. Whichever you decide, opting for your traditional reds, greens and golds is a great direction for you to go. Or you might want to turn your back to tradition and pick something more out there like hot pink!

If you are going for a mix/match look, the addition of multi-coloured fairy lights would be a great addition to your tree for a fun and festive atmosphere. Utilising glass or metallic ornaments would also help the colours bounce around the room by reflecting the lights.

If you’re sticking to a colour palette, you can still achieve maximalism with ease. Opt for oversized ornaments and perhaps some tinsel to really draw attention.

A big trend we are seeing this year is the creation of bauble garlands draped around a Christmas tree or a banister. By buying the baubles in bulk and some garden wire, you can create this striking look at an affordable price whilst still making maximum impact.

Trend of 2024: Burgundy & Bows

You may be seeing across social media platforms and the internet that more and more people are choosing deep shades of red such as burgundy for their Christmas décor colour palette this year. The incorporation of rich burgundy tones creates a sophisticated look as well as achieving a cosy vibe. Burgundy complements gold accents beautifully, allowing you to incorporate a touch of traditional Christmas décor or make use of your existing collection with ease.

Another viral trend for Christmas 2024 is handmade bows using ribbon. A simple yet impactful look that anyone can easily recreate, all while being budget friendly. Merely cut a piece of ribbon to your desired size and tie a bow. You can tie the bow around a branch of your Christmas tree for extra support or place the bow onto the branch.

Repeat the bow design throughout your home by incorporating it into place settings at your dining table for Christmas dinner and wrapping your gifts for under your tree to create a cohesive look.
