The Falcons Show Home

If you’ve not viewed our impressive Globemaster showhome at The Falcons then don’t delay, it’s not to be missed! Its beautiful design, inspired by the Oxfordshire countryside, was expertly curated by our award-winning partners at Edward Thomas Interiors. Sam Jones, client account manager, highlights what house hunters can expect to find…

How do you describe the Globemaster’s style?

Its upscale country with an Arts & Crafts twist! We’ve combined elements of traditional Cotswold country décor such as natural colours and textures but modernised it with botanicals, foliage, earthenware and Arts & Crafts patterns.

The Arts & Crafts movement is enjoying a major resurgence, led by Habitat’s collaboration with Morris & Co. This collection blends classic craftsmanship with modern design. It’s typically seen on fabric or wallpaper, but is now extending to tableware, lighting and furniture. In the Globemaster, you’ll spot this influence on the staircase’s leafy Morris pattern wallpaper, the home office’s artwork and soft furnishing choices in the bedroom and bathroom.

What colours and materials did you use?

We wanted the Globemaster to appeal to a young family so whilst the main colour palette was inspired by the surrounding Oxfordshire countryside, we selected warmer earthy tones to ensure a sense of bright playfulness. Shades of navy and sage green feature prominently and then we’ve introduced soft grey, metallic gold and candy cane pink to inject some personality!

Materials we kept deliberately natural, so wooden or rattan furniture alongside plenty of greenery and plants to bring the outside in.

What are your favourite features of the design?

There’s too many to choose! I really like the character of the two top floor rooms. The first is a whimsical, ‘girly girl’ bedroom that’s just a fun space. The bed is a pull-out so friends can join for sleepovers, there’s candy cane striped wallpaper that’s very on trend, and we’ve added an ottoman style storage bench under the slope as an alternative (and cosy) seating option.

In the other top floor room we’ve created a stylish home office that can double as a guest bedroom for visiting relatives. Two large skylights flood this room with light, making it a bright and motivating place to work.

Another feature I really like is the home bar we added to the kitchen wall. Its gold, open frame allows you to still see the vibrant, zesty lemon feature wallpaper behind and it’s just really eye-catching.

Did the local area inform the design?

RAF Brize Norton is nearby The Falcons so we wanted to reference this in our design. We decided the family’s twin boys, Harvey and Harry, would be fans of the air force and styled one of the bedrooms with this as its theme. A hand painted mural of an RAF bomber flying through the clouds frames both beds, while camouflage patterned wallpaper and aviation accessories further strengthen the Brize Norton connection.
