Primary School Receives Donation in Recognition of Brake's Beep Beep! Day

To acknowledge the importance of road safety, Platform Home Ownership have donated 60 high-visibility jackets to Grangefield Primary School in Bishops Cleeve to acknowledge Beep Beep! Day. 

Organised by the road safety charity, Brake, Beep Beep! Day raises awareness for the importance of children learning basic road safety from a young age. Targeting children aged 2 to 7 years old, Beep Beep! Day provides schools, nurseries, playgroups and child-minders the opportunity to educate young children on how to behave when they are close to a road, and when they need to cross a road.

The charity states that six children are killed or hurt on UK roads every day. Platform hopes that with their donation not only will it raise awareness of the dangers of walking to and from school, but that pupils will be able to utilise the high-visibility jackets so they can remain safe. 

Mrs Gemma Kydd, headteacher at Grangefield Primary School, said: “We’re really happy to have received this donation from Platform, especially related to such an important campaign concerning schools. 

“It’s reassuring to know that those operating in the area have local amenities and resources in mind, and we would like to thank all at Platform for this kind gesture.”

The primary school is close by to Platform’s upcoming development in Bishops Cleeve, named Cleeve Gardens, which will be providing a large number of affordable housing to the area including 86 Shared Ownership homes. 

Hannah Harding, Sales Consultant for Cleeve Gardens said “It was great to provide the children of Grangefield Primary School with these jackets to help them be more visible. 

“We feel it’s really important to give back to the communities we serve, and engagement such as this hopefully goes a long way to supporting that.
