Megan Doherty, Client Account Manager at our interior design partners, Edward Thomas Interiors  shares a sneak preview of what house hunters can expect to discover when we unveil our newest show home, The Bamburgh at Stallings Place…

Did you follow a theme/style in the show home?

Our ambition was for The Bamburgh to have authenticity in its interior design. It’s a fantastic family home and we wanted our styling to reflect the lifestyle of the imaginary family we created. There’s two parents, a teenager and a young baby, so for instance in the open plan kitchen/diner, we’ve included a highchair as well as dining chairs. On the middle floor, because the third bedroom is furnished as a nursery, we’ve added a working from home station to the landing. The styling is all to highlight the functionality of the space and inspire house hunters to think imaginatively!

What colour schemes did you use?

With an autumn launch date and Stallings Place being nearby two local nature reserves and the King George VI Park, we opted for an earthy, organic colour palette. Olive green and warm clay form the base shades and are complimented with taupe, tan and natural woods.

Do you have any favourite features?

I’m really excited about the teenager’s bedroom. We’ve taken inspiration from the local rugby club and created a rugby fan’s haven including themed accessories, a mural wallpaper and on the ceiling we have hand painted a rugby pitch! Painted ceilings have really grown in popularity this past year and are a great way to stamp personality onto a child or teenager’s space.

Do you have any top tips or style hacks that house hunters should watch out for?

I mentioned briefly earlier about the working from home space we’ve added to the middle floor landing. Stairwells, alcoves, landings and eaves are often considered transitional spaces and therefore get forgotten or overlooked. We encourage homeowners to reclaim these. Ladder desks and shelving are a great way to do this, as are occasional chairs to create a quiet spot for phone calls, reading or a restorative G&T!

What is the one room you can't wait for house hunters to see?

I think the main bedroom is really special. On the top floor of the house, it has a stylish dressing area and private en-suite, so is a real sanctuary, somewhere for the parents to retreat and recharge. Soft curves in the artwork and luxurious fabrics help to accentuate the home’s overall earthy style but with a splash of elegance.
